Phi Phi Don has 3 viewpoints to lookout. The viewpoint3 which evaluated to 186m, is the highest point in Phi Phi Don where you can get the best view. From the lookout, you can see Tonsai and Loh Dalum bays form the perfect shape of "dumbbell" stretching in front of you. Further up, you can see Phi Phi Leh sitting behind the hill of Phi Phi Don.
The best time to visit is sunrise and sunset time. From Jan to Jul, sunrise is about 6:00am to 6:15 am, while the rest of the year it happens around 6:30 am to 6:45 am. Sunset time is 6:00pm to 6:35 pm in Jan to Jul, while it’s 6:00pm to 6:35 pm in Aug to Dec. Around 9-10 am in the morning is also a good time to visit, because you can get the sun behind you which bring the nice bright color from the sea.
Both the viewpoint 2 and 3,there is a small shop sells cold drinks, ice cream, snacks. It’s ice to have a beer in hand and enjoy the breeze on the top of the hill. Some flat stones and shade make it even a popular picnic place for locals.
If you’re coming from pier, follow the winding main street you can reach the stairs in 10 minutes. From the reggae Bar, you’ll see the sign for view point also. After seeing Cacita resort and Phitharom resort, the stairs are just 100m away. A 20 minutes brisk walk will lead you to the top. Could be little tiring in hot days, don’t forget to bring the water with you. The condition of the way up is pretty good, paved most of the way.
For those who want to go further, there are three paths leading to the bays on the other side of the island: Pak Nam Beach, Rantee Beach and Ao Toh Koh in 20-40 minutes easy walk.
