The kayaking trips in Phi Phi tend to follow the same routes as the additional boat tours. Indeed most of the day is spent on the traditional boat, with short stops around different bays and interesting coastline. For the various sort of trip, try the kayak "sunset tour" which departs from Loh Dalum bay on Phi Phi Don and goes around the coast. It is blissfully cool in the afternoon shade of the limestone cliffs. The padding route goes via Monkey Bay, the Tiger's Mouth and ends up at the beach at Wang Long. Apart from dramatic limestone scenery, you can expect to see lots of wildlife and different plants and flowers. Various species of birds such as eagles, kingfishers, little herons and occasionally hornbills. You can also see monkeys and macaques, which inhabit the mangrove forest near the coast. On the islands, the marine life includes brightly-coloured crabs, many tropical fish, and coral. Sightings are never guaranteed, of course, but your chances of seeing something are better when you go!
